Rituals instead of resolutions

Rituals that become stronger when shared

Moving together, staying consistent – connection in practice
While week 1 was about inner attitude, week 2 was about habits, and week 3 was about self-awareness, this week is all about connection. Because as individual as Pilates is, it is not meant to be done alone. Consistency does not come from discipline alone, but unfolds especially in community. Even the most motivated people need a little push now and then. Or a friend.

The power of practicing together
When you exercise with others, whether in person, online, or even through short motivational prompts, your brain gets a double boost: motivation and joy.

It's both science and emotion:

  • Commitment: You are more likely to show up when someone is counting on you.
  • Energy exchange: Joint effort feels easier and more lively
  • Belonging: Training together reminds us that we are not alone with our goals and challenges.

Pilates thrives on connection—from breath to movement, from mind to body, from person to person. When we share this rhythm, practice becomes a true ritual.

Ways to stay connected

1. Find an exercise buddy
Write to a friend every morning when you have finished your ritual—without judging, just to encourage them. ("Exercised for 10 minutes today, feel much less grumpy.")

2. Take part in a live online course
The energy of breathing together and guided flow (even via a screen) can greatly increase your motivation.

3. Establish a group ritual
Perhaps you could make a short video together every Sunday—each week, someone else chooses a new flow.

4. Short exchanges instead of checklists
Instead of tracking perfection, share your reflections:
"What felt good today?"
"What helped you stick with it?"
"What would you like to try next week?"

It's not a competition—it's a real conversation.

Final thought
Rituals do not thrive in isolation; they grow in connection. When you move together with others, you strengthen your own rhythm. Consistency does not mean doing everything alone. It comes from showing up together, again and again and again.

So, invite someone this week. Start a chat, take a class, or share your playlist. Because shared exercise is exercise that sticks.
